At the event "Engineering Intelligence - Cyber Valley at the University of Stuttgart", Steffen Staab opened the new Institute for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Stuttgart as managing director last Wednesday. The institute will be dedicated to researching fundamental questions about the social benefits of artificial intelligence and the transfer of applications to business and society.

The topic of "Artificial Intelligence" (AI) has arrived in our society after ChatGPT and MidJourney at the latest. We also use AI in Semanux Access. On the one hand, we analyze the camera image of your webcam with our AI to find your face in it quickly and reliably. On the other hand, we check the microphone signals for your humming noises, also with our AI. In contrast to prominent examples such as ChatGPT and MidJourney, the computation of the AI takes place directly on your computer - without us having to upload personal data to a cloud. This means that our AI works quickly and with a minimal footprint of your data.

Our application of AI in Semanux is only made possible by research such as that at the new institute. We are proud that our former research group "Analytic Computing" is now part of the new institute at the University of Stuttgart alongside "Autonomous Systems" (Prof. Dr. Kai Arras), "Machine Learning in Simulation Sciences" (Prof. Dr. Mathias Niepert), "Autonomous Sensing and Perception Systems" (Jun.-Prof. Dr. Alina Roitberg) and "Machine Learning and Robotics". And we are even more glad that Steffen Staab continues to support us in his role on the advisory board with his expertise on our journey!
