Gamepads are only for gaming? That's no longer true: Semanux combines the intuitive operation of game controllers with other input devices for better access to the Internet and the computer. No matter if with motoric limitations in the working world or if the computer is used for watching TV on the couch. When the keyboard is not accessible, our software makes it possible to use a gamepad.

Webcams have become part of our everyday life, especially in the past two years. Nowadays, such cameras are often already integrated into the laptop. Our application for funding through the first phase of an "EXIST Transfer of Research" program by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and European Social Funds has been accepted! We have been granted over 645,000 euros as support to develop a prototype and business plan for Semanux from September 2021 to February 2023.

Raphael will speak at the virtual event "AI in Social Innovation & Impact" of the "Entrepreneurship Series" by Cyber Valley. He will explore the topic of social innovation and the impact of Semanux. In our research paper "Hummer: Text Entry by Gaze and Hum", we have combined gaze control with humming sounds in a novel, hands-free text entry system. Our results were accepted for detailed publication and presentation at the most important international conference on human-computer interaction, CHI.

“PARAplegiker” Magazin dedicated a special section in their current issue spring 2021 to us. The magazine is the most important German-language magazine focusing on paraplegia. It currently has a circulation of over 12,000 copies.

Raphael has successfully defended his dissertation "Improving Usability and Accessibility of the Web with Eye Tracking" at the University of Koblenz-Landau. In his dissertation, Raphael introduces innovative methods for using eye tracking to improve usability and accessibility on the Web, discusses their implementation as prototypes, and reports on the evaluation with users of the new methods.
